There’s nothing worse than when you’re ready to unleash your celly but your clapper hits the pipe, right? If you understood that sentence, you already know hockey has a language all its own.

Pigeon, apple, grinder, gongshow, celly, mitts, barnburner. The list of terms players throw around the ice is long and bizarre.

Sometimes you don’t even know you’re fluent in hockey until a non-player gives you that confused look. They have no idea what you just said. It’s that engrained in your everyday chirping.
